Artist Statement
Interactive installation with a digital mirror (videocamera + retro-projected screen mirror-shaped) reflecting the face of the visitor standing in front of the mirror. The image is focussed when the visitor stand up to observe the mirror and disappear when the visitor moves. The artwork pushes the perception of the own image as the other himself through slowly minimal graphical and sound effects and subliminal stimulus with particularly incisive images (1/30 sec).
The doubt increases in the visitor who is pushed to perceive the distance between himself and the other . This is the distance between the real image that the people transmits to the others and the interior image with which he represent himself.

lo guardai ma non lo riconobbi, era estraneo a me.
un viso mai visto prima di allora. eppure era in casa mia.
forse era passato molto tempo e molte cose potevano essere cambiate sul suo volto.
forse i miei occhi avevano visto tanto altro da allora
o forse avevano semplicemente dimenticato di guardare.
Mi mossi verso di lui. lui rimase immobile. allora mi fermai anch'io.
tentai di focalizzare il mio sguardo ma non ci riuscivo.
c'era qualcosa nei suoi occhi che mi impediva di focalizzare
e mi obbligava a sospendere la mente
Era come se mi dicessero
• fermati, non guardare, lascia che il vento ti passi addosso,
• lascia che il tempo torni su se stesso
• lascia chiusi gli occhi della mente
lo feci, o meglio mi costrinse a farlo.
ma un attimo dopo era già scomparso
ed io non seppi mai chi era quel volto,
e cosa ci facesse nel mio specchio.
